ATOL Protected

Your money is protected by our ATOL (1694) for your extra peace of mind. Family-run since 1980, we have been taking guests away on ski holidays since the days when all-in-ones were day-glo! The kit is a little better now, and the adventures are a bit further afield, but the care and friendly atmosphere is still the same as it was on that first trip.

£5,695 Heli-skiing in the Pyrenees

Heli-skiing in the Pyrenees provides great value, with prices starting from only £5,695 per person, so you can experience the thrill of skiing/snowboarding in fresh powder with access by helicopter at a fraction of the cost of a trip to somewhere further afield. If heli-skiing is on your bucket list but you have a limited budget then consider a trip to the Pyrenees.

Epic

The word doesn't really come close enough, as heli-skiing is simply the best skiing or snowboarding experience there is, giving you access to terrain that only a helicopter can reach. We love to earn our turns as well, but there's nothing quite like the thrill of being taken to the top a clean slope with untouched powder from top to bottom.

Ski Miquel has carefully chosen partners around the world to bring you the best value heli-skiing we have found. You still get that friendly Ski Miquel experience and service, plus a helicopter to take you skiing! The weeks selected are intended to offer you the best value whilst still ensuring the best chances of getting decent snow.

All our trips are ATOL protected, providing you with a level of security that you can't get by booking the elements of a trip separately.

Powder skiing Alaska

Alaska - £9,950

Alaska is the classic heli-skiing location. We have selected a location between the Chugach and Talkeetna mountain ranges in south-central Alaska, only 2.5 hours away (115 miles) from Anchorage, with each range offering unique landscapes and lines that will be etched into your mind, giving you stories to tell around the fire for years to come. You will be flying mostly in the Chugach range and Majestic Valley, which means you get to enjoy views of the huge glaciers, whilst picking from hundreds of descents over the 300 miles the Chugach range covers, each with around 10 to 20 fall lines to choose from, providing you with around 750 vertical metres of fresh snow per drop.

The snow comes thick and fast this far up north, averaging 40cm+ per week, but we don't start flying until around mid-February to enable the snow to build up a good base and the days to lengthen a little. The volume of snow is a double-edged sword, as you can't fly when it snows due to the cloud, but when it clears you will likely have some of the best days skiing/snowboarding of your life - On our research trip, we managed to do over 8500m of vertical descent in a single day!

As you can imagine, with all that space can you afford a little space inside as well, so the accommodation is superb and the lodge features amenities such as a full-service bar, hot tub, high-speed internet, satellite TV, and a retail store stocked with outdoor apparel and gear. Guests can participate in morning yoga and stretching sessions, and massage therapy is available for an additional fee.

Majestic Heli Ski provides luxurious and comfortable lodging options designed to enhance your skiing adventure. Nestled in the heart of the pristine wilderness, their accommodation offers stunning mountain views and easy access to heli-skiing activities.

PYRENEES - £5,695

If you're looking for the thrill of heli-skiing but can't quite spare the time or budget for a trip to Alaska, then the Pryenees will provide you with all the excitement, a little more sunshine and a fantastic ski resort to explore on any down days.

Located in the pristine backcountry of the Val d'Aran, nestled in the Catalan Pyrenees, you will fly out of the Vielha heliport, in a backcountry that boasts over 400km² of exclusive terrain ranging from 1200m to 3000m in elevation, providing diverse alpine landscapes for skiers of varying skill levels. Each descent offers unique challenges, from steep couloirs to wide-open bowls, ensuring an unforgettable skiing experience.

The valley's orientation collects the incoming winds, driving wet air into the cold northern flow from the east across Europe and the Alps contributing to consistent snow quality throughout the season, including an average of 30cm of snow in the last weeks of January, just before the heli-skiing season starts.

Accommodation is provided in the resort of Baqueira-Beret at the Hotel Montarto, where you will be collected each flying day and taken down to the Vielha heliport to begin your day exploring the backcountry. If it's not possible to fly that day, then you will be given a lift pass for Baqueira-Beret so you can ski the resort for the day.

Safety

Your safety is our primary concern when heli-skiing and so all our guides are professionally trained in avalanche risk and snowpack understanding. You will be provided with safety gear and this is all pre-checked and to the appropriate standard (you can't use you own, sorry). A safety briefing is given before your first flight to ensure you understand how to use it and the procedures we need to follow.

Snow and weather conditions play a major part in determining where we can ski, while the terrain influences how we navigate it. Throughout each day, our guides will keep you updated on weather, terrain hazards, helicopter safety, skiing protocols, snow stability, and avalanche risks. Safety is a team effort and everyone plays an important role in maintaining group awareness and dynamics.

Alaska

The BCA Float avalanche airbag system is engineered to help keep you near the surface in the event of an avalanche, offering one of the most effective proactive safety measures available. Each kit also includes essential avalanche rescue tools: a BCA Tracker2 transceiver with harness, a BCA shovel, and a BCA Stealth 300 probe. Together, these items form a critical safety package for anyone venturing into avalanche-prone terrain.

All guests will begin with a general orientation to help you understand what to expect during your stay. This will be followed by hands-on training covering avalanche awareness, mountain hazards, proper use of safety and rescue equipment, companion rescue techniques, and skiing protocols. You'll also receive a helicopter safety briefing to familiarise you with aircraft procedures and best practices.

Pyrenees

Each guest will be equipped with an ARVA Calgary 18 airbag backpack with a shovel and probe, a Mammut Barryvox S avalanche transceiver, a RECCO system, and a radio for the last person in the group.

Our local high-mountain guides hold UIAGM/AEGM certifications (International Union of Mountain Guide Associations and the Spanish Association of Mountain Guides) and bring extensive experience from seasons spent in the Val d’Aran and other heli-ski destinations around the world. Many also serve as helicopter pilots or professional rescue personnel, adding an extra layer of expertise to your adventure.

Each day will begin with a guide briefing, where they will outline the plan based on current weather and snow conditions. You will be given an introduction to the day’s activities and safety protocols, and after completing a short administrative form and participating in safety drills, you will board the helicopter and take off for your day of adventure ahead.

Ski / Snowboard Equipment

Your skis or snowboard can be provided by our in-location teams, and we have a good range of powder skis and snowboards for you to choose from. You can also bring your own, but please ensure skis are at least 100mm underfoot, as you will be skiing the deep stuff after all! Snowboards should ideally be powder snowboards, in both length and design. Both skis and snowboards should be perfect condition on the base, with bindings correctly set and configured for powder and your weight/style. We would recommend that you bring your own boots, as these should provide a better level of comfort that rented ones.

Helicopter

Now for the exciting bit - Yes, you get to fly in a helicopter, and it's just as cool as it sounds! All the helicopters are chosen and adapted for the purpose of heli-skiing making them manoeuvrable and better for landing on snow and mountain tops. All our helicopters fit 4 riders, plus the guide and pilot. Please note that weight restrictions apply and can play a role in determining how groups are structured.

Alaska

The spa features a thermal circuit with two hydra spas, a polar bath, pebble path, Scottish shower, essence and contrast showers, ice fountain, Finnish sauna, steam bath, and thermal deck chairs. The spa area spans 150 square metres, making it one of the largest in the Val d'Aran.

Reviews

Oh my goodness - Majestic Heli Ski is some place special! Some of the best meals and turns ever!

Tree and Zach gave us an unforgettable day in the Chugach. The lodge holds a beautiful energy and during our down day, enjoyed our time with the staff, beers in the hot-tub, and explored on x-county skis. Every meal was exceptional! Our stay with them was unforgettable from start to finish, felt like royalty and family at the same time. I cannot wait to go back!

The skiing trip of a life time

This was the trip of a life time. It was on my bucket list to Heli ski in Alaska after my first visit here 15 years ago. I set up a 3 day package with Kari, the general manager, who was so helpful. My plane was late arriving and they were so accommodating getting me down to the lodge ensuring I wouldn’t miss a day of skiing. I loved the variety of ski terrain as each day we skied untracked powder. The best day was skiing right down into the Matanuska glacier. The guides and staff were all fabulous. The food was incredible. We awoke to fresh breakfast then hot soup and sandwiches on the mountains. Followed by appetizers upon returning and wonderful dinners. We also utilized the fat bikes and cross country skis during some down times from skiing.
I would highly recommend this trip and cannot wait to return.
