General questions

What are your opening hours?

09:00 - 17:00 Monday to Friday

What is your postal address?

Ski Miquel, PO Box 5487, Hove, BN52 9JZ

Where should I go skiing / snowboarding?

Our UK team have extensive knowledge of all our resorts and accommodation and will help choose the right ski holiday for you, so please feel free to call us to discuss your holiday requirements. We are confident of being able to answer most questions, but if we can’t answer your specific query then we will come back to you with an answer as soon as we have been able to make some further enquiries for you!

How do I book with Ski Miquel?

Please contact us to book your holiday by calling our main number (01457 821200) or by using the enquiry form on our website.

Which airports do you fly from?

All our flights are from Manchester or London Gatwick. Please note there is usually a supplement payable on the Manchester flights.

What are the flight times?

Go to the home page of our website (or the footer of our website) and click the link to our Travel Information page, where you can find flight details for all our resorts.

Do I have to book the whole chalet?

No, our chalet-hotels accommodate group sizes of 2 upwards! If you have a large group and there isn't enough room in a chalet-hotel, we have good value partner hotels nearby in most of our resorts that we can use as an overflow, and hotel guests will often still be able to eat dinner at the chalet-hotel if they wish to. Please call us for further information on this.

Can we book the whole chalet-hotel if we want to?

Yes, if you are able to use all the rooms. Our chalet-hotels have between 9 and 14 rooms, and a number of rooms can accommodate more than two guests. If the size of your group increases beyond the total capacity of our chalet-hotel, then we can usually find other accommodation nearby, whilst still providing space for everybody to eat together in the chalet-hotel (numbers permitting).

Can you help with a large group booking?

Yes, of course! Please call us first so we can help find the right resort and chalet-hotel for your group, then if you wish we can give you an option for up to three days (with no obligation) whilst you liaise with your group. Once you have confirmed your booking, we will ensure that guests have the correct rooms allocated and we will give you the best possible price by offering you room-sharing reductions (if possible) and any group discount that may be applicable.

What if only two of us want to come to one of your chalet-hotels?

That's absolutely fine, and we pride ourselves on the warm welcome and sociable ambience of our chalet-hotels. Guests book in parties of all sizes, but after a few days into the holiday you often can’t tell who came with which group, and we have many groups who met on holiday previously with Ski Miquel and now come away with us together!

How much deposit do you require?

To confirm your booking we require a deposit of £175 per person.

When is the balance due?

The balance of the holiday is payable 10 weeks prior to departure.

Do I need to collect all the money from my group to pay?

Whilst it is easier for us to take a single payment for a group, we can allow individual guests to make separate deposit or balance payments, and they can also add their own ski packs (lift passes and equipment rental) via our online portal. However, we do ask the party leader to advise their individual group members of the amounts they need to pay, as well as the booking reference.

Is my money safe and secure?

Ski Miquel has been operating for over 40 years and all our flight-inclusive package holidays are protected by our ATOL (1694), so you are financially secure when you book with us. Your package holiday is also covered by the Package Travel & Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations (2018) for your extra peace of mind.

What are the entry requirements for my destination country?

The best source of up-to-date information on entry requirements is the Foreign Office advice on the UK government website, as this is regularly updated. For further information, please see our 'Travel Information' page - The link is in the footer of our website.

I would rather not fly, so can I drive to the destination resort instead?

Yes, it is often possible to book our holidays without the flights, although this will depend to some extent upon the size of the group and the week you are wanting to travel - Please call us and we would be pleased to discuss this with you in further detail.

Can I make amendments to my booking?

Yes, of course – We can add ski carriage or equipment hire, and we can also change names and even dates and resorts (if possible) for a small administration fee. We understand that major changes are often due to unfortunate circumstances, so we will do our best to support you.

What if I no longer wish to travel?

If your holiday is still going ahead to your scheduled destination but you no longer wish to travel, then please note that our standard booking terms & conditions will apply - Please see the link in the footer of our website.

What if my holiday should happen to be curtailed whilst I am in resort?

If your holiday is curtailed following departure and due to circumstances which are beyond our control, we would not be able to provide a refund for the main holiday cost, as by that point we will have incurred all of our own costs in providing the holiday (i.e. transport, accommodation, staff, food, etc) - In that case you would need to submit a claim to your travel insurance company for holiday curtailment, so you must ensure that you have an appropriate travel insurance policy in place prior to departure.

Do you have a Data Privacy Policy?

Yes, and you can find a link to the full policy in the footer of our website. Please note that Ski Miquel will never sell your information to any third party for direct marketing purposes.

What if I have any more questions?

We are here for you! We don't like to hide behind automated answerphones or emails and our friendly team are always happy to talk to you. If you have any questions or concerns at all then please feel free to call us on 01457 821200. Further travel information can also be found on our website. Please note it is your own responsibility to consult the latest government advice on any policies and entry requirements for your specific destination prior to travel.

Can you tell me more about the quality of your chalet-hotels?

Ski Miquel owns the majority of our chalet-hotels, and we try to make the standard of room fittings the same across all our properties. We have spent many years developing a standard that our guests like and enjoy, and we continually look to improve wherever possible.

Do you have a bar in your chalet-hotels?

All our chalet-hotels offer a bar service at very reasonable prices, which are normally well below the usual high prices elsewhere in resort. With the exception of the Tannenburg in Bad Gastein, the bar is exclusively for the use of Ski Miquel guests and has a great atmosphere. The bar will normally open in the afternoon or early evening before dinner and will remain open after dinner until around 11pm.

What is the standard of the food in your chalet-hotels?

Good food is central to any good ski holiday and we pride ourselves on the standard of the food we offer. All meals are prepared by experienced and qualified chefs, who work to the acclaimed Ski Miquel Cookbook. Breakfast is buffet-style with cereal, muesli, fruit, fresh bread, butter, jam, tea, coffee, fruit juice and a cooked egg dish of the day. After-ski tea is usually a homemade cake and/or biscuits. Dinner is bistro-style and best described as good gastro pub fare. Following pre-dinner canapés in the bar, we offer a 3-course meal with wine included, followed by a cheese course.

Can you tell me more about the dinner service?

Dinner is served on six out of the seven nights, as the staff have a night off, which is usually on the Wednesday or the Thursday. The evening starts with canapés served in the bar at 7:30pm, where everyone usually meets, and dinner is then served at 8pm. Tables vary in size from 6 to 12 settings and we serve 3 courses prepared by a fully-trained professional chef working from the Ski Miquel Cookbook. Complimentary wine is served during the meal, up until the cheese course is served.

Do you cater for special dietary requirements?

Yes, we regularly cater for guests who have specific food allergies/intolerances. All we ask is that at you inform us at the time of booking to ensure that we are able to give our chef sufficient notice and so they can order in any special supplies which may be required. Sometimes certain ingredients can be difficult to source in mountain ski resorts, so if a particular dietary requirement is more complex then a guest may wish to bring their own ingredients for the chef to use. Our staff will put the set menu on display each morning, so if there is something you cannot eat then please let us know straightaway.

Can you accommodate serious food allergies?

We do have good experience of accommodating fairly demanding dietary requirements, including allergies where any mistakes could potentially have serious consequences. We do have in place a formal procedure which should ensure that any risks are eliminated, but we do request a clear written statement of needs. The training of our chefs will ensure that professional procedures are carried out, but this can be a complicated area, so please do call our UK team to discuss this and confirm that we are able to meet your requirements.

Is wine included with dinner?

Yes, complimentary wine is served during the evening meal in our chalet-hotels and our staff will gladly refill the carafes for you, up until the final cheese course is served, at which point the carafes will be removed from the table. We ask that guests do not take their wine glasses into the bar or lounge area after dinner. Please note that bookings with our partner hotels do not include wine with the evening meal.

Why should I book my lift passes and equipment rental through you?

We will make sure you buy the right lift pass at the best price, and our adult lift pass prices are usually cheaper than if bought in resort. Our adult equipment rental price will also be less than if you buy directly from the shop, and you will also be accompanied by a member of our staff to ensure that your ski hire goes smoothly. Our long-standing and excellent relationship with the rental shops in our resorts means you will be given good intermediate level equipment, and if you wish to upgrade your equipment (if you want to try some racing or powder skis, for example) then you can simply pay an extra amount directly to the rental shop in resort. In the unlikely event of a problem, with say damage or loss of equipment, then we can help to sort this out for you. Lift-side equipment storage is also free in some of our resorts.

What standard is the rental equipment?

All shops have very modern ski and snowboard equipment, but if you would like to get the latest racing skis, for example, then you can pay a supplement directly to the rental shop to upgrade. Today there is no such thing as a 'bad' ski, but they do have different characteristics – soft, hard, quick to turn, or great for fast wide turns – It’s all about what you prefer. If you rent through us, you can try your equipment and then change it at the shop if you wish to.

Why should I rent my ski/snowboard equipment?

New equipment is developing all the time and the modern shapes make skiing and snowboarding much easier. You save the ski carriage charge, plus the cost and effort of servicing your own equipment. You can also change your equipment if you want to try something different, and some of our resorts even have free storage close to the lifts. Please also note that children’s equipment is often cheaper if bought directly from the rental shop in resort.

Do you sell the full ski area lift pass?

Yes, we do. Please beware of some companies that seem to offer a cheaper lift pass, as it will usually be a local area pass only, and trading up after a few days will be a lot more expensive. Lift pass pricing by the resorts can sometimes be confusing – Some resorts have good deals for beginners, whereas others don’t. If you are thinking of going to Montgenèvre then do call us and we will talk you through our lift pass recommendation, which includes at least one day in the 'Milky Way' ski area.

Are there any child lift pass offers available?

Yes, but the child lift pass offers do vary from resort to resort, so please call us and we will see what works best for you. For the last few weeks of the season, some of our resorts offer a free child pass if bought with an adult pass. In Serre Chevalier, they usually offer a discounted family group lift pass, if purchased in resort.

Are there any senior lift pass offers available?

Yes, but only in some of our resorts, so please call us to find out which resorts offer senior lift pass offers, and for which ages.

Can I book ski/snowboard lessons through Ski Miquel?

We have a great relationship with the local ski schools in our resorts, but you will need to book your lessons independently and directly with the ski school. Our guests will sometimes put together their own private group for a shared lesson, which is a good way to keep the cost down and make sure you are all of a similar standard. All the ski schools now have good websites with details of the lesson prices, and you will find a link under the ‘Ski Info & Extras’ section of the resort page on our website. It is always best to contact the ski schools in advance, particularly if you are travelling during peak holiday periods, such as New Year or Half Term.

Are there any English-speaking ski schools in your resorts?

Most of the ski instructors in our resorts have a good level of English, and there is even an English-run ski school in Baqueira. You will find further information on this under the ‘Ski Info & Extras’ section of the resort page on our website.

Will I need to buy a lift pass if I am a beginner skier/snowboarder?

This will depend upon the resort and your ability level. In some resorts, if beginners are with the ski schools, they do not need a lift pass for the first few days if they are only using the nursery slopes. In other resorts, it is best to buy a limited area pass and then upgrade later in the week, depending on your progress.

What time do the ski lessons take place in each resort?

Ski school hours vary from resort to resort, and please note that the lesson times can also vary during the season, so please make sure you check the times in advance with the specific ski school. You will find the link to the ski school website under the ‘Ski Info & Extras’ section of the resort page on our website.

Why is the ski hosting programme so popular?

Guests tell us that they really enjoy skiing runs that they are comfortable on without having to keep checking the piste map constantly! Another big bonus is that they get to ski much more of the resort, as our ski hosts know the best routes and connections to access the full ski area. The primary job of the ski host is to give you a fun, safe and comfortable day. Please note that our ski hosting is all on-piste and we do not provide any guided off-piste skiing.

Who can join the ski hosting groups?

Our ski hosting programme is open to any guest of any age, but you MUST be able to ski a blue run well and a red run comfortably - We cannot host a skier who is not competent, as the safety of our guests is our utmost priority. Please note we do not offer any instruction, so our hosting programme is not meant to be a substitute for ski school. We will not pass judgement as to whether a guest is capable of skiing a particular run, so this must be up to the guest.

Will I be able to keep up with the ski hosting group?

We will usually have a steady group and a faster group on each ski hosting day. Above all, the skiing will need to be at the guests' pace. Every group has its own comfortable pace - Some groups will nearly wear out the ski host, whilst other groups will like to stop frequently to enjoy the wonderful scenery, but we will endeavour to set the ski hosting at the right pace to ensure that everyone has a great day. All pisted runs are colour-graded and coded on the piste map. However, guests can of course ask the ski host where they are and the grade of the next run.

What kind of runs do you go on with the ski hosting groups?

The ski host will tailor the day to the group's ability and the best snow. The challenge of a particular run is made by both its steepness and the snow conditions (for example, an icy blue run will often be harder than a freshly-groomed black run). Our ski hosts will never take you on a closed piste, as it will usually be closed for a good reason.

Where does the group take a break, and what about lunch?

For some, lunch is a most important part of the day, but for others it’s a necessary interruption of the skiing, so our ski host will adapt as needed! A morning break is usually planned into the route, and both groups tend to use the same hut so that you can meet up with your friends, and in case you want to swap groups. On most days, our ski hosts will be able to reserve a table in a mountain hut that offers good value and service. All the restaurants know us well, as we have been using some of them for many years.

What about more challenging skiing/snowboarding?

Most of our resorts have itinerary runs – These are runs that are not pisted, but are patrolled and declared open and safe by the mountain management. Itinerary runs are often of great quality and the ski host will happily show these routes to the guests, and if requested they may also ski down behind you to make sure you are safe. However, please be aware that these itinerary runs are not part of our ski hosting programme. Additionally, our ski hosts do know the resorts well, so they can point out more challenging terrain that is more suitable for exploring with a mountain guide or an instructor.

What is there to do for any non-skiers in our group?

All our resorts have excellent public transport in the valley. In Lauterbrunnen, you can use the bus to go up the valley and then walk back, or use the train from Mürren to walk to the descending cable car. You can also use this type of combination in Bad Gastein to easily access some spectacular scenery. Serre Chevalier has a very useful bus service along the valley, which goes though pretty villages to historical Briançon, with its drawbridge and imposing walls – well worth a visit. Saalbach has easy access to Salzburg, as well as many valley facilities. You can walk over to Italy from Montgenèvre, via the golf course! Try shopping in Vielha in the valley below Baqueira, which has a great selection of shops with Spanish prices. If you would like any more details in relation to a particular resort then please feel free to call us.

Which of your resorts is best for non-skiers?

Some resorts are better than others for non-skiers, but it just depends on what they are looking for and what they like doing. You can get the best answer to this question by giving us a call – We know the resorts very well and it would need a lot of words to spell out the great choice of activities and places to visit or explore. There is no shortage of resort-centred pool and spa facilities. If beautiful winter walks are needed then the choice is good, and if you want an excursion out of the valley to interesting historical places then we also have many suggestions.

Will non-skiers be able meet up with the skiers in our group?

Yes, usually quite easily, as thanks to our ski hosting programme we know where we will be at lunchtime. On most days it is fairly simple for the non-skier to use a lift to join their friends for lunch. The ski hosts can suggest the best days for meeting and provide clear instructions for travel. If you have any problems en route, then just call our ski host on their mobile and they will be able to steer you towards the lunch spot.
