Mimi Bunn Accounts

Mimi, our in-house accountant, has been working for Ski Miquel since 2022. Here she explains how she first got into skiing and snowboarding, and what else she likes to do in her spare time.

My love of the mountains began on a school ski trip when I was 12 years old. At that time I started skiing, simply because I hadn't heard of snowboarding by then.

By the age of 15, I was spending my time watching snowboarding movies and dreaming about one day trying it out for myself. I was so obsessed that one of my GCSE art projects featured a snowboarder soaring through the air!

It wasn't until I was 22 that I finally had my chance. Friends who were living in Morzine at the time invited me out to visit, lent me a board and taught me the basics - It turned out to be one of the best holidays I've ever had.

Sadly, I never knew about the world of seasonaires when I was younger, otherwise my career path might have looked very different! Instead, I trained as an accountant whilst squeezing in as many mountain adventures as possible, mainly across the French Alps.

I've also been lucky enough to snowboard in Whistler, which was every bit as incredible as I'd imagined. Next on the wish list for me is Japan.

When the opportunity to join Ski Miquel came up in 2022, it felt like the perfect combination of my profession and one of my biggest passions, and I think Nick was pleased to have another snowboarder on the team!

Although my riding has improved thanks to more regular trips to the mountains, I'm still usually the one getting left behind when the Ski Miquel team heads out on the slopes. I don't mind though, I'm here for the vibes.

The snow bug has now been passed on to my children. While my son insists on being a skier, I'm still hopeful I'll get him on a snowboard one day! Sharing mountain holidays with them and watching their enthusiasm and confidence grow is something I absolutely love.

Away from the mountains, I come from a family of cyclists and took up road cycling myself a few years ago. I love the peacefulness of being outdoors, seeing things you'd never notice from a car, and of course the coffee-and-cake stops! One of my highlights was cycling from London to Paris, which was an unforgettable experience.

I'm also a fan of rock and punk music, so if I'm not up a mountain or on a bike, there's a good chance you'll find me at a gig or a festival somewhere close to the mosh pit!
