Chalet Host

Supervising Chalet Host for Ski Miquel

We are looking for a Supervising Chalet Host with a restaurant and hospitality background to join our overseas team in a hands-on supervising service at both breakfast and dinner.

Our Hosts are the cogs that drive our operation in resort – Without them keeping our rooms and accommodation clean and tidy, assisting our chefs with food preparation, cooking breakfast, dealing with guest requests and running meal services, our chalet-hotels would grind to a halt!  As the face of the company, it is the Hosts’ job to ensure our guests are not on just another ski holiday, but to make sure they have the true ‘Ski Miquel Experience’. As supervisor, it will be your job to ensure they are delivering this experience day-to-day.

This is a role for an experienced front-of-house, sociable person who is willing to lead from the front, creating the energy and pace through hard work that good service needs.  Your work ethic will be rewarded with a job that gives you plenty of time on the slopes, so that you can get to enjoy all that the mountains have to offer, alongside looking after a well-tuned team.

The Role

This is a diverse role, with a variety of shifts during the week.  The following is an outline of the principal tasks that are expected of our Supervising Chalet Hosts over the course of a normal week:

In the morning, you will be required to ensure that breakfast service is fast and efficient, whilst maintaining the quality of service and food.  This can be up to 60 covers in 25 minutes, so you will need to be hands-on to ensure this gets done.

Following breakfast, you will ensure the tables are cleared and correctly prepared for the evening service, with the correct layout and cutlery, before cross-checking the cleanliness of the communal areas.  The guest bedrooms are normally cleaned every other day (including the toilets and showers) and this should all be completed within a few hours, which means you should be free to get out on the mountain during the afternoons.

Afternoon tea is served from 4:30-5:30pm and the set-up should be checked on a regular basis.

Dinner is served at 7:30pm each evening and consists of 3 courses, including chalet wine, and is finished off with a cheese course in the bar.  You will need to ensure this is delivered to a high standard with a close eye on dietary requirements, food service and overall presentation.  Upselling of wine to customers and ensuring a nice atmosphere in the dinning room is key to the Ski Miquel experience.  Once dinner has been served, the dishes have been washed and the dining room has been cleaned and mopped/hovered, the team prepares for breakfast before your day is done.

You will take part in changeover day, the longest day of the week, with deep cleaning of all bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas before the new guests arrive, making sure the chalet-hotel is warm and welcoming for their arrival.  Soup is provided after the guests arrive, with the full dinner service in the evening.

The Supervising Chalet Host role requires early starts, hard work and effective teamwork, but provides you with rewarding guest interaction and a great opportunity to explore the mountains in your free time.
