The New Reiterkogel Gondola

A nice new addition to Saalbach-Hinterglemm

Saalbach

Big improvements are coming to Saalbach-Hinterglemm for Winter 2026/27, with the construction of the new Reiterkogelbahn in Hinterglemm.

The existing lift is being replaced by a modern 10-person Doppelmayr gondola, designed to take skiers higher and more efficiently up the mountain, with the new route extending towards the upper Reiterkogel area.

Construction started in April 2026, with completion planned for November 2026, ready for the 2026/27 ski season.

What's changing?

The new Reiterkogel gondola is planned as a 10 EUB gondola, meaning a detachable 10-seater cabin lift.

According to Saalbach’s published lift facts, the new installation will have a capacity of around 2,500 people per hour, a length of 2,111 metres, a height difference of 669 metres, a travel speed of 6 metres per second, and a journey time of around 8.6 minutes.

That should make a real difference when trying to ski back from the famous Goaßstall bar in Hinterglemm and looking to sneak just one more beer in, although if you've been drinking then we would of course recommend you take the bus back to our chalet-hotel instead!

A faster uplift speed and more comfortable cabins with improved access to the top of the mountain mean that skiers and snowboarders will get more out of their day, particularly in a resort as extensive as Saalbach-Hinterglemm with near 408km of pistes.

Continued Investment

The Reiterkogel project is part of Saalbach-Hinterglemm’s continuing investment in modern lift infrastructure. The resort has been upgrading its lift system with a focus on comfort, capacity and quicker movement around the ski area for a number of years now. The new Reiterkogelbahn alone represents a major investment, reported at around €35 million, and is expected to operate year-round for both winter and summer visitors.

If you like quick, modem heated lifts then Saalbach-Hinterglemm is hard to beat and this is just another example of this region putting the rest to shame with the quality of lifts on offer.
