NHS Covid Pass

Under a recent agreement with the European Commission, the NHS Covid Pass is now accepted as equivalent in status to the European Union Digital Covid Certificate (EUDCC) and UK citizens can digitally verify their vaccination status using the EUDCC gateway. This means it should now be easier for UK citizens to access venues which require proof of vaccination, such as bars and restaurants.

The agreement also provides access to non-EU countries linked to the gateway, including Switzerland.

Passports

Please ensure that your passport is valid for entry into your destination country and for your return to the UK, as passports must be valid for a minimum period beyond the time of your intended stay in the destination country. You can find further information about passport validity on the UK government website here.

You can also check if you need to renew your passport on the UK government website here.

European / Global Health Insurance Card (EHIC / GHIC)

Following Brexit, the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is being phased out and replaced with a new Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC). Despite the name, the GHIC only works within EU countries, and the EHIC also only works in EU countries. If you currently have an EHIC that is still valid, you can continue to use this. When your EHIC expires, you should apply for a new GHIC. Both cards entitle you to medical treatment in the EU. However, neither is a replacement for travel insurance, and you should ensure you have full travel insurance in place before going on your holiday.

You can find further information on the UK government website here.

Testing

It is highly recommended that you bring a batch of tests with you just in case. Tests are available in all resorts from the local pharmacy or medical centre, but these are charged for and generally range from 4 Euros to 40 Euros, depending on whether you need an antigen or certified PCR test.

It is a requirement for self-travel customer to test before entering the Chalet. This is due to local requirements in countries we operate in. Those that have traveled by plane will have had to provide travel proof before they board the plane so will not need to test. The entry to chalet works the same the plane if you fail the test, you not permitted to enter just as you not permitted to board the plane.

We do recommend that all travel tests in the days before departure in order to ensure no surprises during travel or on arrival at your chalet-hotel or hotel.
