My journey to Tignes

I first discovered skiing at 14 on a school trip to Austria. I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t until another ski holiday at 19 that I really caught the bug. I came home already planning my next trip, although Covid had other ideas!

Once travel was back on the cards, I made up for lost time with two ski trips in 2022 and another two in 2023. By then, I was thinking my next adventure might be something a little different: a full ski season.

At the time, I was working as an operations manager for a large hotel group in Ireland, having graduated from university the previous year. In October 2023, I decided to take the plunge, swapping Ireland for the French Alps and joining a chalet company in Val d’Isère as resort manager.

I absolutely loved it: the skiing, the mountains, the people, the guests I met and, most of all, the lifestyle. So when the opportunity came at the end of that season to join Ski Miquel for the launch of Chalet-Hotel Rosset in Tignes the following winter, it was an easy decision.

Two more seasons later—three in total—I get to combine my hospitality experience with my love of the mountains, helping to make sure our guests have an amazing week in Tignes.

One of the things I enjoy most is that no two days are the same. Yet there’s also something special about the familiar faces. We welcome so many returning guests, and it’s lovely to see them coming through the door each week.

When I’m not in the Alps, I’m usually somewhere else in the world. I spend my summers travelling, exploring new countries, trying new things and making the most of the time between seasons. I’ve become a big fan of travelling with a backpack, without a fixed plan, and seeing where the adventure takes me.

But after a few months exploring the world, I’m always happy to return to the mountains, see the snow and get back on a pair of skis.
