The New Chalvet Gondola

New Chalvet Gondola upgrade will improve skiing in Montgenèvre

Montgenèvre

Montgenèvre is already one of the most appealing resorts in the French Alps for skiers who like variety, convenience and a proper cross-border ski adventure. Now, with work planned to replace the Chalvet gondola and chairlift, the resort is set to become even more attractive for future Ski Miquel guests.

The existing Chalvet gondola will be closed throughout summer 2026 while replacement work takes place, according to the official Montgenèvre lift information. The project will modernise access on the Chalvet side of the ski area, two planned 10-person gondolas replacing the existing Chalvet lift infrastructure, including the older Chalvet Supérieure chairlift, no more sore legs on those old wooden slats!

For guests staying with Ski Miquel in Montgenèvre, this is exciting news. The Chalvet sector is a key part of the resort’s appeal, offering sunny skiing, wonderful views and excellent access into the wider Montgenèvre ski area. A modern gondola lift will mean a warmer, smoother and more comfortable journey up the mountain, particularly on colder days or when travelling with children.

A resort that keeps getting better

Montgenèvre has seen several recent improvements, including the Rocher de l’Aigle gondola, which opened for winter 2023/24 and replaced the old chairlift with a faster 10-seat gondola. The planned Chalvet upgrade continues that investment in comfort, access and the long-term quality of the ski area.

Our ski hosts can't wait to show you the new lift, so why not book into one of our 3 great chalets (Ava, Lucille or Elise) in Montgenèvre.
