Guide to Tignes après-ski

Ask me for the best week to combine skiing and partying in Tignes and my answer is easy: New Year. There’s a real buzz around the resort, the celebrations can start well before midnight, and you have a choice of seeing in January in the middle of the crowd or watching the fireworks from our own Chalet-Hotel Rosset balcony.

Outside New Year, my other favourite window is mid-March to mid-April. The days are longer, sunny afternoons become more tempting, and a good day on the mountain can finish with a live band and a sunny terrace full of happy skiers.

Both have their appeal. Here’s how I’d choose, with the dates and Rosset holiday prices for Winter 2026/27.

New Year: 1st choice skiing & partying

New Year in Tignes is a celebration you can make a whole day of. Fit in your skiing, choose your favourite stops and leave enough energy for the countdown. There’s no prize for doing every venue, although the temptation is understandable!

Lunch at Loop Bar, then a little Folie

I like the idea of starting with lunch at Loop Bar, overlooking the frozen lake in Tignes Le Lac. An Aperol with that view is very much part of my holiday picture, but if you’re continuing to ski, then save the alcoholic version for after your last run!

For the big mountain-party atmosphere, La Folie Douce is the obvious name. It’s the place I think of for music, dancing and that wonderfully improbable sight of a party happening halfway up a snowy mountain!

Do think about the journey home, though. La Folie Douce is on the Val d’Isère side of the linked area, although getting back to Tignes is just one lift and a black run if you can stand it or the gondola lift down if you can't, or if you are up for more then a blue run down to Cocorico. Check it is open, as the gondola sometimes closes due to wind and the last lift is usually around 4:30pm, so don't cut it too fine as they might not let you on it and then it is a ski down and a bus ride home. This is one occasion when 'one more tune' needs a little discipline!

Cocorico: Live music, 'Thunderstruck' and a proper après atmosphere

Later in the afternoon, I’d head to Cocorico in Val Claret, or Coco's, as you’ll hear it called locally. It’s at the foot of the Grande Motte funicular, so you can finish skiing before settling into the party.

The routine I know is a live band from around 4pm, followed by the DJ at around 6pm. My favourite detail is the changeover: AC/DC’s 'Thunderstruck' and a fire show above the stage. It’s not exactly a quiet way to announce that the evening has begun!

Back to the Rosset for dinner and the countdown

By now, food is likely a good idea, so back at Chalet-Hotel Rosset my plan for New Year is to make dinner a little different: More communal, more sociable and properly celebratory. We’ll confirm the evening’s arrangements with our guests in resort, but the idea is to enjoy the occasion together before the midnight fireworks.

For the countdown, you have two excellent options - My personal favourite is our bar balcony at the Rosset, as it looks out over the fireworks at Tignes Le Lac and, in my admittedly biased opinion, offers one of the best views in town, so you can get the spectacle from the comfort of our own chalet-hotel!

Or you can wrap up and join the crowd on the Le Lac snow front. For 31 Dec 2026, Tignes entertainment is from 22:30 to 01:30, with a live karaoke concert, fireworks at midnight and an electro-pop and dance set afterwards. It’s a great choice if you want to be right in the middle of it.

Still have some dancing left in you?

If midnight feels more like a halfway point, there are clubs in Val Claret to carry on the evening. Le Blue Girl is the one I mention to guests looking for a late finish, which opens at midnight and runs to 5am.

The free Tignes 2100 shuttle connects Le Lac, Lavachet and Val Claret. All-night buses have made this easy in my experience, but check the published timetable and special New Year arrangements for your stay. This winter’s exact overnight departures and any changed stops should be confirmed before heading out.

New Year at Chalet Rosset: 27 Dec 2026 to 3 Jan 2027 for £1,531pp. This week is currently sold out, but we are taking enquires for 2027/28/29, and you can also enquire about cancellations if it’s the celebration you have your heart set on.

Mid-March to April: Sunny après-ski

For a different sort of party week, consider mid-March to April. Longer days give you more daylight to enjoy, and when the blue skies arrive, the outdoor après spots really come into their own. A band playing, mountains behind the stage and the afternoon sun on your face - it’s a very easy combination to get used to!

Keep the skiing at the heart of the day. In spring, conditions can change from firm snow in the morning to softer pistes later on, so take advice from the Ski Concierge team and choose your routes to suit. Sunshine isn’t guaranteed, and neither is every lift being open, but this is a lovely time to enjoy the mountain and the social side of resort life together.

Live-music tip: Queens of the Snow Stage

If there’s one band I’d tell you to look out for, it’s Queens of the Snow Stage. They’re a huge favourite with us, and exactly the sort of live act that can turn a casual après stop into the highlight of the afternoon.

Ask the Rosset team when you arrive - we’ll help you find out if they’re playing and where. Their dates and venues change, so check the current listings rather than relying on last winter’s gig night.

St Patrick’s Day at the Rosset

The green hat in our Rosset photograph gives the game away! St Patrick’s Day is another good excuse for a sociable evening after skiing. In 2027 it falls on Wednesday 17 March, right in the middle of my favourite spring window. Ask us about this season’s plans when making a booking.

Stay 14-21 March 2027 from £1,182pp, currently with last rooms remaining. Or choose 11-18 April 2027 from £1,049pp for a later spring break.

Opening & Closing Parties

Opening parties:

If you can’t wait until New Year, Tignes’ official opening weekend is 21-22 November 2026. The ski area opens progressively, subject to conditions, with the Val d’Isère link scheduled from 28 November.

Cocorico’s listed opening date is 29 November 2026, although its separate opening party programme has not yet been verified. The Rosset’s first advertised stay is 29 November 2026 at £550pp, flights excluded. That puts you in resort for the early-season atmosphere, but it doesn't cover the official resort opening weekend.

Mountain Shaker

If you enjoy freestyle competition alongside your music, Mountain Shaker runs 17-22 January 2027. It moves from March to January this season because Tignes hosts the Para Alpine Skiing World Championships in March. The Rosset’s 17-24 January 2027 week is listed at £1,229pp and is currently sold out, but you can ask about cancellations if those dates appeal.

Closing parties

There’s still plenty to look forward to beyond mid-April. Just make sure you book for the right farewell: Cocorico’s advertised end of season comes before the resort’s official closing.

The Tignes tourist office lists Cocorico’s season through 20 April 2027. Choose 18-25 April 2027 at the Rosset for £668pp (flights excluded) to be there for that date.

The final operating day; a dedicated closing-party line-up and ticket arrangements still need confirming. If Coco's is the main reason for your trip, check with the venue before committing.

Tignes Unlimited: 24 April to 2 May 2027

The resort’s end-of-season festival, Tignes Unlimited, runs 24 April to 2 May 2027. It brings electronic music events to the resort and mountain, with the ski area scheduled to close on 2 May 2027, subject to conditions.

The Rosset’s final week, 25 April to 2 May 2027, is £555pp (flights excluded). You land directly into the festival and your departure on closing day. The preceding week is only £668pp, making this 2 weeks for the price of one, so what a great way to finish the season with the last 2 week in Tignes and a huge party to boot!

Check the festival’s 2027 programme and admission prices as they are released. Past line-ups give you an idea of the sort of music you will expect to hear, and don't forget to buy you tickets from official outlets.

This is it, the lifts close and staff pack up after this, but what a season it was last year and we are sure it will be again this year. So many memories and fun times, from epic views at sunrise to face shots in the deep powder, cruising reds and blues with all your friends and, last but not least, a good party.

Which party week should you book?

My vote stays with New Year for the biggest occasion, and mid-March to mid-April for sunny skiing and live-music afternoons. If you want to stretch winter as far as it will go, the closing weeks give you another reason to keep the skis out.

Prices and availability were checked on 22 September 2026 against Ski Miquel’s Tignes pricing and are subject to change. Standard flight-inclusive prices are for Gatwick flights; Manchester flights add £35pp. Flights are excluded where stated; ask us to confirm travel and transfer arrangements for those weeks.
